Telephone Preference Service - Cold Calls
Cold Calls? Use the Telephone Preference Service.
Fed up of sales calls every day? register for the TPS register to stop unwanted calls.
If you’re fed up of uninvited sales and marketing calls to your landlines or mobiles, did you know you can opt-out by registering your numbers on the Telephone Preference Service (TPS)?
The TPS is the UK’s only official ‘Do Not Call’ register. Organisations are legally required, by the Privacy and Electronic (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, not to call any number that is listed on it and could risk a fine if they do.
It’s a free service and easy to sign-up. Simply visit https://www.tpsonline.org.uk/ and enter your landline or mobile number. It takes 28 days to become fully effective but should reduce the amount of unwanted calls you receive. Once you have registered your number, it remains on the list, so you don’t need to renew.
Businesses can also register on the Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS) at https://www.tpsonline.org.uk/register/corporate_tps). Businesses do need to renew their registration annually, but the service sends out a reminder, asking if you wish to remain registered.
