Kaleidoscope Project commissioned Blend Telecom to transfer all broadband and phone lines to all IP ready for the 2025 copper switch off.
When Kaleidoscope Project came to us wanting to update its broadband and phone services ahead of the 2025 digital-to-analogue switch – we jumped at the chance. The organisation is a charity based in Cardiff that helps around 10,000 people dealing with substance and alcohol issues every year. The charity support those struggling through recovery programmes, support groups, regular meetings, and different wellbeing initiatives.
With 15 sites across Wales and the Northwest of England, we surveyed each one to figure out which service would perform the best based on the existing broadband connection at the location. We then transitioned all 15 Kaleidoscope Project sites to futureproof broadband services such as SOGEA, FTTP, or leased lines.
Not only has this given Kaleidoscope Project peace of mind in its broadband services, it has improved communications across the charity, meaning that the team has increased flexibility when working and a dependable system that they can rely on to continue providing support.
All Kaleidoscope sites now have VOIP systems, which has allowed the team to receive and make multiple calls at once, expanding the charity’s capacity for providing help to families and individuals. This system is particularly beneficial due to the nature of the charity’s work – now vulnerable people no longer have their calls missed as it can be received at any of Kaleidoscope’s locations until it reaches an available staff member.
Kaleidoscope’s team is also able to access call stats and know when calls come in and where they're coming from so that they can tailor their support and staffing levels accordingly – something they’ve never had before. Team members also have easy access to voicemails, with no need to trek back to the office they can make calls remotely on their own devices, responding quickly, no matter where they are.
The charity also has 400 mobile phones in the field requiring tracking and management. We recommended a mobile device manager which allows authorised users to keep everything in check - passwords enforced, devices wiped remotely, and live locations tracked all from one easily accessible online hub.
Since we’ve been involved in its telecoms and broadband services, Kaleidoscope Project has cut costs significantly – allowing the charity to spread its resources even further, making a real impact in the communities it supports.
