Are your lifts ready for the digital switchover?
The UK’s telecoms networks are changing forever…
The UK is currently transitioning to a totally fibre network, which is very bad news for lift autodialers connected to landlines.
The telecoms network in the UK is being upgraded, and fibre lines are replacing copper lines installed throughout the country. This is great news for home and business broadband speeds, but the emergency phones in your lifts will no longer work.
The vast majority of the lift emergency telephones installed in the UK are analogue, and these require DTMF tones to function correctly. Fibre lines cannot broadcast these particular frequency tones and don't carry power, therefore if there is a power outage, the telephone line will fail, leaving the emergency phone useless.
